Beard Miller Company announces several industry group leaders

Beard Miller Company LLP (BMC), a leading Mid Atlantic certified public accounting firm, is pleased to announce the appointment of several firm leaders to head its various industry groups. Industry group leaders are responsible for overseeing the firm's client service and new business opportunities in their respective industry groups.

Steven E. Morehart has been appointed co-leader of the Financial Services Industry Group. Morehart will serve as co-leader with the current Financial Services Industry Group Leader, Terry Lehman, in preparation for Lehman's retirement in May 2009. Morehart, a firm partner in the Reading office, is part of the Audit and Accounting department and also serves on the firm's Manufacturing and Distribution Industry Group, Technical and Quality Control Department and as Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Practice Leader. Morehart has more than 20 years of experience in public accounting and specializes in financial statement review, consultation on complex accounting and reporting matters, mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, capital market transactions and SEC reporting requirements. He has been with the firm since 2001. Morehart has a BSBA degree from Bloomsburg University and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey.

Douglas L. Berman has been appointed the Not-for-Profit Industry Group Leader. Berman, a firm partner based out of the York office, is part of the Audit and Accounting department. Berman has over thirteen years of experience in the public accounting industry and has a comprehensive background in engagements for not-for-profit organizations, governmental entities and educational institutions. Berman has completed the prestigious American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Academy for Exempt Organizations Fellow program. The program requires 80-hours of intensive curriculum, providing graduates with the ability to provide a higher level of service to each of their clients. He has been with the firm since 1995. Berman earned a BS degree from Messiah College. He is a member of the AICPA and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Ronald J. Binn has been appointed the Pension Audit Industry Group Leader. Binn, a firm partner based in the Allentown office, is part of the Audit and Accounting department and a member of the firm's Manufacturing and Distribution Industry Group also. Binn has over eighteen years of experience in the public accounting industry and works with companies in manufacturing, wholesale, distribution, service and emerging markets. In addition to his pension audit experience, he has provided extensive consulting services to clients including budgets and forecasts, debt restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, job costing, deferred compensation, succession planning, internal control evaluations and pension design. Binn has a Bachelor of Science degree from Muhlenberg College and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Michael S. Frey and Jeffrey Boland have been appointed co-leaders for the firm's Senior Living/Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) Industry Group. Frey, a firm partner in the Lancaster office, is part of the Audit and Accounting department. Boland, a firm partner in the Harrisburg office, is department managing partner of the Senior Living Services Consulting group. Frey has over 21 years of public accounting experience and concentrates on audit and accounting, consulting, feasibility studies and forecasts, and compliance audits primarily for senior living and other healthcare clients. He is licensed in both Pennsylvania and Maryland. Frey is a graduate of Millersville University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). Boland has been with the firm since early 2007 and has more than fifteen years of healthcare experience, concentrated in the areas of operational analysis of long term care providers, third-party reimbursement and regulatory compliance. Boland has a Bachelors of Science degree from Lebanon Valley College and is a member of the AICPA and the PICPA.
