ACCPAC International, Inc. just announced that the company has fully acquired SBT Accounting Systems.

'In today's marketplace, everybody is facing critical resource shortages, particular in current technologies,' says Colorado CPA Wayne Harding, vice president of Outsourcing Services for Great Plains. 'It makes sense to take redundant efforts, particularly in companies who have the same kind of strategy, and merge them together.'

Toronto-based Robert Lavery, vice president of Strategic Alliances for ACCPAC, agrees. 'You have to have a critical mass of development expertise and customer base to drive the business,' he says. 'There is a natural evolution of the market, and as a result, companies have more resources to write, developed and support these products.'

ACCPAC is a division of Computer Associates' InterBiz group, and has considerably strengthened its holdings by purchasing SBT, whose specialty is database accounting solutions.

The expanded product line includes a range of mid-market business management solutions, and more than 1,500 resellers.
