CPA2Biz May Ease Restrictions on State Associations
The original plan for state CPA association partnership with the AICPA's for-profit Web site, CPA2Biz, called for a 10-year commitment with an automatic 10-year renewal and a hefty fine for leaving the fold. In addition, participating states would transfer ownership of certain affinity programs to CPA2Biz.
A new proposal being considered this week by the AICPA Council would change the 10-year commitment to a three-year commitment with an as yet unspecified renewal agreement after the three-year period.
In addition, participating state societies would maintain rights to their affinity programs and would be eligible to enter into other relationships.
A final agreement could be distributed to state societies within two weeks if the AICPA Council finalizes contract terms this week.
Voice of the Editor
Which isn’t completely true. I mean, occasionally I drop by when I manage to sneak out of the nonstop frat party over at Going Concern, but I’m mostly a wallflower over there. I’m happy to say that I’ve been given express permission (or explicit orders, if you like) to wander over here to AccountingWEB more often.
Why is that, you might ask? My job is to replace the irreplaceable Gail Perry as Editor-in-Chief. What does that mean? I don’t really know! I think it’ll be fun getting a feel for things, throwing in my own thoughts here and there, and listening to the discussions you’re having about the accounting profession.
