Regional Accounting Resources Now Available in Southern Georgia

CRI

By AccountingWEB Staff

The CPA firm of BowenPhillips, LLP has merged with Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLC (CRI). Both BowenPhillips offices, located in Tifton and Valdosta, Georgia, will now operate under the Carr, Riggs & Ingram name. The same BowenPhillips team will serve local clients, who will benefit from the additional specialized services and resources provided by the regional CPA firm.

"One of the BowenPhillips philosophies is that 'times change; our principles don't,'" stated Sonny Bowen, managing partner of BowenPhillips. "We are proud to stand behind that statement as we announce this merger with CRI. Times have changed – requiring efficiencies, resources, and specializations that we, as a part of the regional CPA firm of CRI, are able to provide. And our same team continues to serve our clients and community."

According to the August 2011 issue of Inside Public Accounting magazine, CRI is currently ranked the thirty-second largest accounting firm in the nation. CRI has thirty office locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas, and more than 700 professionals on staff.

"Expanding into the Southern Georgia market enhances CRI's service abilities for existing clients throughout the state," stated William H. Carr, chairman and managing partner of CRI. "Given its geographic proximity to our established offices in Atlanta, Southern Alabama, and Northeastern Florida, Southern Georgia was a logical choice for continued CRI expansion. And the BowenPhillips team is simply a cultural fit with CRI's values and Southern roots."

CRI's industry specializations include construction companies, governmental entities, financial institutions, health care entities, insurance companies, not-for-profit organizations, and manufacturing and distribution companies. The firm also offers specialized services, including forensic accounting, employee benefit plan audits, and IT audits.

Once again, the IRS has presented us with its annual list of the most frequently used tax scams, also known as the Dirty Dozen. I for one am getting pretty bored with the tax scams on this list - they hardly change at all from year to year. It's time for some creative criminals out there to come up with something new.
