IMA Launches Sarbanes-Oxley Knowledge Network

The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) announced this week the launch of its Sarbanes-Oxley Knowledge Network http://www.imaknowledge.org/sox. (Note: Registration is required.)

The Network is a new and first-of-its-kind Web-based collaborative learning tool designed to aid financial professionals in understanding and implementing the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (the SOX Act). It is accessible free of charge to anyone during December 2003 and January 2004, and includes the following valuable resources and services:

  • A Q&A forum covering all parts of the SOX Act's Legislation, including implementation and implications. Users of the Network can anonymously submit SOX Act-related questions, which will be answered by Jorge E. Guerra, a seasoned financial executive and IMA's Subject Matter Expert on the SOX Act. Answers will be posted on the Network for all users to read.
  • An unguided email exchange with other Network members. This is an open forum where Network users can initiate discussion amongst each other on any topic related to the SOX Act and benefit from sharing information and ideas with other users.
  • A resource library extensively populated with proprietary and third-party articles and materials outlined in an easy-to-navigate subject framework based on requirements of the SOX Act. The resource library will be continuously updated and expanded to include additional information as it becomes available.
  • A series of proprietary, never-before-published articles on the SOX Act in the context of corporate governance practices, authored by Subject Matter Expert, Jorge E. Guerra. The first article in the series provides general overviews of both the SOX Act and the elements of corporate governance practices, and how the two intertwine.

Following the initial free-access period in December 2003 and January
2004, access to the Network will become subscription-based. An annual Network subscription will be priced at $299, and any financial professional, including non-IMA members, may become a paid Network subscriber as of February 1, 2004.
