CA School to be Based in Edmonton

The path for attaining a Chartered Accountant designation in Canada is changing based on a new model representing several of Canada's Institutes of Chartered Accountants.

The new Chartered Accountants School of Business (CASB) has settled on Edmonton as its home. The CASB is a joint project between the Institutes in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, B.C., Yukon and N.W.T.

Prior to now, these Institutes ran separate CA qualification programs. With the headquarters in Western Canada, the CASB will now conduct the three-year certification program, and many of the courses will be provided over the Internet.

The education will be a combination of classroom and individual learning, and students still will be required to sit for the exam held throughout Canada.
