AICPA Names Chair

Robert K. Elliott, a partner with KPMG, LLP, today becomes the Chair for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Elliott succeeds Olivia Kirtley.

As head of an organization comprised of more than 330,000 CPAs, one goal Elliott will focus on is to help CPAs use technology to deliver new services to clients. He also wants to achieve the objectives set forth by the Vision Project, a long-term venture between the AICPA and state CPA societies to position the accounting profession for the future.

Elliott has been very active in the organization working on the CPA WebTrust and CPA ElderCare projects. He plays an integral role in the most recent AICPA project – XFRML – an information technology project to develop an XML-based financial reporting language.

Elliott is an author of many articles, an AICPA Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Service winner, and Journal of Accountancy Literary Award winner. He also has appeared on Accounting Today’s list of “The 100 Most Influential People in Accounting” every year since its inception.
