Brian Cruver was a firsthand witness to the disturbing, surreal, and hilarious moments of Enron's long dance with death. When he first entered Enron's office complex, "the Death Star," he was the epitome of the Enron employee: young, brash, sporting a shiny new MBA, and obscenely overpaid. A portrait of the author as a young Enronian, Anatomy of Greed reveals the sting of reality, humility, and pain felt by a man whose idols turned out to be fools and scoundrels, and who learned that there is more to life than stock options. 1. Ten Tips to Getting Paid Promptly

Many businesses, particularly small ones, suffer from their
customers paying them late. I'm not talking about 'bad debts', just slow payers. And slow payment can cripple a business's cash flow.

2. Shortcuts For Copying Cells in Your Excel Workbook

It's easy to copy the contents of a cell or a range of cells to another location on the same page or a different page of your Excel workbook. It's also easy to copy cell contents to another workbook. Use these quick-copy techniques to make sure your cell information gets to the right location.

3. Create Group Mailing List With Outlook

Do you frequently send the same e-mail message to the same
group of people? Rather than selecting each recipient every
time you send a message to the group, create a group mailing list in Outlook and send the message to one recipient: the entire group.

4. Motivating Your Staff - Questions to Lead By

Motivating employees is often exhausting and time consuming
work. When external stimulation is no longer present, people have tendency to slip back into their old ways; not moving unless someone is there to push.

Member Questions

Here is a sample of the questions that have been posted over the past week. Check out the questions below and see if you can lend a hand or visit the Q&A Forum "Member Questions" Page for the most recent questions/answers posted by our subscribers.

1. Non-payment of Employee Withholding Tax. I have a new client who did not pay the employment taxes for last quarter, he intends to, but because of unexpected cash flow problems, (a customer did not pay) the payments will be delayed. Is there anything I can do for him to control the problem he will have with the IRS?

2. Non-Profit Accounting Resources. I work full-time as an
accounting manager and am taking some accounting classes at a local university. Recently, I began keeping books for the small church that I attend (using QuickBooks Pro). My question is, does anyone know of a good on-line resource for accounting standards/practices for non-profit organizations, and/or churches specifically?

3. Could you recommend a good textbook on Risk Assessment
particularly for the assessment of Control and Inherent Risk?
