EDITORIAL

Whenever a new salary study appears, such as the Accountants' 2001 Salary Survey that appears in this week's news, people are quick to compare their own salary to others working at the same level. Are you making as much as your peers in the same geographic area?

Before you rush into comparisons, remember there are plenty of other factors that go into a complete job package. Your salary is a big piece of your compensation, but be sure to also consider vacation and retirement benefits, education reimbursements, the number of hours you work, the amount of responsibility you are given, the people you work with, and your general working conditions. It's difficult to place a value on all of the pieces that make up your job.
