EDITORIAL

Tax season has always been my favorite time of the year. The hours are long, the days seem to all blend together, the workload is relentless, the pressure is unyielding. Yet looking back, some of my best friendships were formed in those winter months when the piles of tax returns formed an almost impenetrable fort around my desk.

There's a feeling of camaraderie that is borne of working together toward a common goal - even if that goal is simply making it all end on April 15. The teamwork that goes into making a tax season happen forces co-workers to look to each other for assistance when the work is overwhelming, support when the hours seem too grueling, friendship when the families at home are always asleep when you get there, and a bond is formed that can last a lifetime.

So as another tax season ends and everyone gets back to a more or less normal work schedule, take a moment to recognize the hidden benefits of working those long hours.
