Spurred by new government regulations and demands by investors, more companies today are working to uncover fraud, finding it, and taking action against those who commit fraud, according to a new survey.
Recently at an open meeting, the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC) adopted rules that will improve disclosure to investors regarding the nominating committee processes of public companies and the ways by which security holders may communicate with directors at the companies in which they invest.

1. I'm looking for some guidance on how to use Retail Pro POS software. The company is not very helpful, directing us to the reseller at $75/hr. That's too steep for us right now.
2. We have a client incorporated in Oregon, but doing business in Puerto Rico for 2003. In researching the requirements for filing a tax return in Puerto Rico, it appears that we will need to attach audited financial statements prepared by a CPA licensed in Puerto Rico. Do we need to retain a CPA out of Puerto Rico and have them re-audit the financial statements? This is a huge burden - is there anyway around it?
3. I am looking for a definitive source on SEC reporting

Which isn’t completely true. I mean, occasionally I drop by when I manage to sneak out of the nonstop frat party over at Going Concern, but I’m mostly a wallflower over there. I’m happy to say that I’ve been given express permission (or explicit orders, if you like) to wander over here to AccountingWEB more often.
Why is that, you might ask? My job is to replace the irreplaceable Gail Perry as Editor-in-Chief. What does that mean? I don’t really know! I think it’ll be fun getting a feel for things, throwing in my own thoughts here and there, and listening to the discussions you’re having about the accounting profession.
