The Department of Labor Women's Bureau is holding the sixteenth Wi$e Up Teleconference Call on Friday, September 30 from Noon to 1:30 p.m Eastern. The topic is Facing a Financial Crisis and among the issues discussed will be planning for and recovering from disaster. Participation is free.
Speakers scheduled to participate include:
- Meloni Hallock,a Certified Public Accountant, Personal Financial Specialist, and Certified Investment Management Analyst, is CEO of Acacia Wealth Adviors, a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registered investment consulting firm in Beverly Hills, California. The technical editor of two guides created by the National Endowment for Financial Education in partnership with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), she has served on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles for nine years and previously served on the Disaster Services Committee of the California State Service Council.
- Victoria Melvin works in the office of Public Health and Emergency Preparedness, Response & Preparedness Division, at the American Red Cross National Headquarters.
- Brent Neiser a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), is Director of Collaborative Programs of the Denver, Colorado based National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE), an independent non-profit foundation committed to educating Americans about personal finance and empowering them to make sound decisions to reach financial goals. The NEFE joined with the AICPA and the American Red Cross to develop Disaster Recovery: A Guide to Financial Issues, a resource helping survivors of natural and man-made disasters recover financially from their losses.
Additional speakers from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and the Internal Revenue Service are also scheduled to participate, however, the names of the speakers could not be verified prior to press time.
