Nicknamed the 'Pokey' virus, Trend Micro has confirmed that the virus named after the popular Pokemon character is spreading slowly in the United States.
The virus has the ability to do similar damage as last spring's Love Bug ILOVEYOU virus.
When a user opens an email attachment, an email is sent to everyone in the user's contact address book. When users open an attachment, an image of a pensive Pikachu appears on the screen with the nonsense message: 'Between millions of people around the world I found you. Don't forget to remember this day every time MY FRIEND.'
The title of the email is 'Pikachu Pokemon,' with the message, 'Pikachu is your friend.' Obviously, users are advised not to open the attachment and delete the file from the hard drive.
