How much should you get paid? Is the guy or gal in the next office making more than you are?
Anyone can achieve leverage by discovering what they're really worth, and a new Web site called Salary.com makes the process a snap. Note that this is only one of several sites on the Internet that provide similar information.
This site uses a database to calculate a person's salary based on industry, position and geographic location.
For example, if you put in 'Accounting' for industry, 'New York, New York' for location and 'controller' for position, the result would tell you the salary range. The median base salary is $134,617, top earners are paid an average of $172,032, and the lower half of earners are paid an average of $111,158.
The salary report also cross-references the same position in other geographic locations, as well as the national average.
The site also features news, polls and features related to human resources issues. Check it out!
