PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP last week announced that Thomas (Tom) Wilson has joined the firm as a managing director in the Washington National Tax Service's (WNTS) IRS Service Team. In his new role Mr. Wilson will work with the IRS and provide clients with insight on examinations and appeals processes, international controversy resolution and employment tax.
"Joining PricewaterhouseCoopers has provided me with the opportunity to help companies navigate their way through IRS practices and procedures," said Tom Wilson, managing director in PricewaterhouseCoopers' Washington National Tax Services' IRS Service Team.
Mr. Wilson worked at the IRS for 36 years and, most recently, was the Large and Mid-Size Business (LMSB) Industry Director for the telecommunications, media, high technology, publishing, entertainment, sports and gaming industries. Earlier, he was the Assistant Commissioner (Examination) where he led the entire IRS audit program, which included 23,000 people.
He also served as the National Director (Corporate Examinations) where he led audit programs for all corporations with $10 million and over in assets and the development and/or implementation of all IRS corporate resolution initiatives.
"Tom's extensive experience in negotiations and issues resolution will be a tremendous asset to our clients and the overall firm," said Tim Throndson, PricewaterhouseCoopers' partner and IRS Service Team leader.
While with the IRS, Mr. Wilson received over 50 awards, including several IRS Commissioner Awards and the Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Service. He received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from University of Nevada, Las Vegas; completed the coursework for his Master of Arts from Trinity College; and completed the Executive Program (EPOC) from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
