Intuit Releases 'Site Frame' Web Sites for Small Businesses

Intuit recently released a new version of QuickBooks Site Solutions for small businesses. The new version includes the service "Site Frame," that enables small businesses to insert third-party developed applications directly into their QuickBooks Site Solutions Web sites with a plug and play interface. The new applications will assume the look and feel of the business' Web site. "Small businesses want robust Web sites that help them run their businesses more effectively," said Intuit's Small Business Division vice president and general manager Dan Nye.

An informative article by, Workforce.com provided some great ideas on how to incorporate flexible scheduling in your company.In 1997, more than 25 million workers varied their hours to some degree, with staggered start times, compressed workweeks, job sharing, and part-time hours, according to the article “Flexible Schedules and Shift Work: Replacing the 9-to-5 Workday?” by Thomas Beers in the June 2000 issue of Monthly Labor Review. But, he adds, most flexible workers alter their schedules on an informal basis.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, among the estimated 260,000 financial planners in the United States, the average starting salary is $28,000. The median income for experienced planners is $107,000, and some earn as much as $200,000 a year. 55% of Americans Don't Know Cost of Retirement

Most Americans have no idea how much they will need to live on once they retire according to the Quicken Fiscal Literacy Survey. More than 35% of all respondents did not know just how much they needed in order to retire, a one-percent increase from the 2000 Survey. The survey indicates that around 30% of Americans could only sustain themselves economically for a few months in the event of job loss; that same number of Americans don't even contribute to a pre-tax retirement program.

Salary Gap Between CFOs and CEOs Narrowing

A survey conducted by Maryland based Panel Publishers reveals that CFO compensation has been surging over the last four years in small to medium sized companies. The overall growth of CFO salaries at many of these companies reflects the economic expansion of the last few years. The survey also found an impressive rise in CFO stock option awards as a percentage of salary. Over the last four years, CFOs’ median total direct compensation as a percentage of what their CEOs earn rose 10 percent at the surveyed firms.
