CFOs Project Increase in Accounting & Finance Hirings

New England and the East South Central regions are expected to experience the greatest growth as Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) across the country anticipate a modest increase in full-time accounting and finance staffing levels. Eight percent of 1,400 CFOs responding to a survey from Robert Half International, Inc. plan to add staff in the coming quarter with only 2 percent foreseeing personnel reductions.

With a year spent trying unsuccessfully to get the venture off the ground, the Securities and Exchange Commission's investor-education fund is losing its chairman and several directors, the Wall Street Journal reported."With real sadness, because we all recognize that the mission of helping individual investors be more successful...is so important, the Directors of Investors Education are all resigning," fund Chairman Charles Ellis wrote in a note to two advisory panels.

Poll: Public Divided on Regulating Appearance in the Office

Most would agree that nose rings and obesity are more common than ever in the U.S. workplace, but a new survey says the nation is divided over whether employers should have the right to ban body piercings or compel large-framed employees to drop weight. In the survey released today, 39 percent said employers should have the right to deny employment to someone based on appearance, including weight, clothing, piercings, body art or hairstyle.The survey comes as employer-employee disputes over appearance increasingly spill into the courts and government enforcement agencies.
