Taxpayers and their preparers who are located in areas that were either evacuated or under severe weather warnings because of Hurricane Irene are being extended some extensions of time for filing returns and making payments. If you serve clients in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, or Vermont, these relief measures might apply to your clients. If you haven't done so already, now is a good time to call or send a message to your clients, and not just the ones in the path of the hurricane.
