Quickbooks-Listing of Inventory items and sales

Can any help me resolve my quickbook-2010 issue. I have entered all my inventory list of items with price and cost for each item However, Anytime I generate P&L statement, it records all the inventory items as sales although I have not made any sale yet or generated an invoice for a potential sale. I must be doing something wrong.

Inventory items
It is hard to say without looking at the actual QB file, but if your inventory items are showing up as sales and sales have not been created, I would take a good look at the setup of those inventory items. There are three GL accounts specified in the setup. The Inventory Asset account, an income account, and a COGS account. Check those. Be sure they are all the right type of account and are in the correct fields in Item Edit window.
