Polka music--the backbone of the annual Oktoberfest beer bash--has endured the worst fate imaginable by the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. The Grammy Award for best polka album has been cut from the competition. I guess that the pinheads who run the Academy felt it was time to make this change and place this time and energy into categories that are perceived to be more “hip.”
