Another sign of the booming Austin, TX economy is evident by the opening of the Arthur Andersen [1] office in the state's capitol. It has been almost 10 years since the Big 5 firm had an office in Austin.

The office will focus primarily on providing services emerging technology companies, defined as businesses reaching revenues of $100 million. To get the ball rolling, Andersen has named a new managing partner, Amy Chronis, and increased the Austin staff to 24 employees.

Andersen closed the Austin office in the late '80s due to hardships in the economy. However, because Austin is known familiarly as the Southwestern Silicon Valley, Andersen is committed to long-term activities in the city.
