The free financial counseling will be offered from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. CST on June 25 at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Area CPAs are currently signing up to volunteer their services, Amy Welch, OSCPA director of communications, told AccountingWEB.
Shawnee was chosen because it was one of the first communities devastated by a rash of tornadoes that have hit the Oklahoma City area in the past two weeks.
"In trying to identify ways the OSCPA is best suited to help, post-crisis financial counseling seems ideal," OSCPA Executive Director Daryl Hill, CAE, told AccountingWEB. "Obviously, primary needs must come first. The health and well-being of family members are the main concerns, then victims can start to process and take steps toward rebuilding their finances. We're hoping that's where we can help."

A community meeting on disaster relief
is being hosted by First American Bank in Norman, Oklahoma, at 3:00 p.m. CST on June 6 at the Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library in Oklahoma City. The meeting will provide individuals, families, and businesses that have been affected by the tornadoes with information on available financial services and resources.
