Mike Pfohl has joined A.T. LOCKE , a provider of accounting services, business analysis, and financial and strategic guidance to emerging and midsized organizations, as a financial analyst on the firm's rapidly growing team.
A native of Camden, South Carolina, Pfohl holds a BS in financial management as well as an MBA, both from Clemson University. Prior to joining A.T. LOCKE, he served as chief financial officer for Perceptis, LLC, a help desk and IT consulting provider to higher education, and as vice president of finance for Level One, a strategic support solutions provider to the multifamily industry. Pfohl's experience has included a range of operations, accounting, financial reporting, risk management, payroll, tax, treasury, and key account management roles.
Nigel JN Smith

as the firm's US Financial Services Advisory leader, based in New York.
In this role, Smith will take responsibility for expanding and leading the firm's efforts across all of its advisory service lines in the financial services sector. With more than twenty-five years of experience in the financial services industry, Smith has served large global banking and insurance clients in the areas of business strategy, risk and finance, performance management, and CRM as well as organization and talent management. He joins Grant Thornton from Accenture, where he was recently leader of the North American Financial Services Management Consulting practice and was responsible for its Financial Services Innovation Center in North America. Smith attended the University of York in the United Kingdom.
Jacqueline F. Akerblom

's southern California practice, has been recognized for her efforts to promote women in the workplace andwill be honored by the University of San Diego on April 27.
Akerblom, who earned her bachelor's degree in accounting from USD's School of Business Administration in 1984, will receive the Author E. Hughes Award for Career Achievement. She has nearly thirty years of experience working principally with technology and industrial companies as both an audit and corporate finance partner. In her role as office managing partner, Akerblom leads and manages a staff of more than 300 professionals who provide specialty services in audit, tax and consulting.
In 2010, Akerblom was elected to Grant Thornton's Partnership Board. She also served as the firm's national managing partner of Women's Initiatives and Programs from 2007 to 2011, during which time the firm saw the number of women partners increase by 197 percent. She led the development of numerous programs and policies that have played a key role in Grant Thornton being named to Working Mother magazine's 100 Best Companies for the last six years.

Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Harless ran her own human capital management consulting firm, working with a variety of clients to align talent strategies and investments with business objectives. Previously, she spent more than eight years at Capgemini in a variety of talent management and human resources roles, including as vice president of North America People and HR leader. In this role, she designed and led the implementation of a three-year cultural and operational transformation journey for its North American organization. She also served as the chief operations officer of Lucernex Technologies, a Dallas-based software company. Harless received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University.

Raff has joined the accounting firm as a staff analyst in the litigation, valuation, and business transition services group. He comes to LBMC from Pershing Yoakley & Associates and brings with him valuation experience working with hospitals, health systems, physician practices imaging centers, and ambulatory care centers. Originally from Kingsport, Tennessee, Raff received his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in corporate finance from East Tennessee State University. He is also a graduate of the University of Tennessee Knoxville in communications and journalism.

After completing the well-respected internship program with Schaffner, Knight, Minnaugh & Company, PC, Thayer joined the firm in 2012 as an associate at the Jamestown office. She is currently a specialist in the firm's tax department, focusing on tax consulting and preparation. In May 2012, she graduated summa cum laude from SUNY Fredonia with a Bachelor of Science in Public Accountancy. Thayer also earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and health and human services from State University of New York in Buffalo, where she graduated summa cum laude in May 2007.
While attending SUNY Fredonia, she was honored with the 2012 New York State Society of CPAs Accounting Senior Award, the 2011 New York State Society of CPAs John T. Kennedy Memorial Award, and the M.R. Poummit Achievement Award for highest department GPA in the spring of 2011. She maintained dean's list status every semester. During her time at SUNY Fredonia, she was an accounting tutor and volunteered her services with the VITA program.
