CPAs Get Involved in their Communities

If you are a CPA in Illinois, Indiana, North Carolina, or Virginia, you probably are aware of the CPA Day of Service [1], an annual event when CPAs across the state dedicate one business day in September to serving nonprofit organizations and community projects. Organized by the state CPA societies, accountants in participating states sign up for projects through the society website, and they are encouraged spread the word and invite local press to take note of their activities. Not only do the accountants contribute to the community, the actions build good will and recognition.

The movement is growing - this year was the first year for North Carolina to participate - and you can start preparing for next year's event and encouraging your state society to take part. All it really takes is someone with the desire to organize and spearhead the event - the CPAs in your state do the rest.
