The newly formed CPA Consultants' Alliance (CPACA)
is a group whose main purpose is to explore leadership issues facing the profession and to develop and share solutions that benefit practitioners. CPACA hopes to promote change in the CPA profession by collaboratively developing tools and content that will educate, motivate, and increase the knowledge of current and future leaders.
CPACA President Sandra Wiley said, "Realizing that our industry is in the midst of tremendous change and transition, our quest is to work in tandem to increase intellectual capital . . . to find answers to our ongoing leadership challenges."
In the coming months, CPACA will release a research study and commentary focused on the CPA profession's opportunities and challenges as well as future leadership in the accounting profession. The study is based on a survey of more than 750 CPAs and combines research and findings on leadership best practices.
Elliott Davis, PLLC
, an accounting, tax, and consulting services firm in the Southeast, is pleased to announce that Practice Growth Director Liz Kalooky
was honored on Thursday, June 21 as one of the Charlotte Business Journal
's "Women in Business."
At the sixteenth annual awards event, held at the Charlotte Convention Center and attended by more than 550 people, Kalooky was one of twenty-five women in the Charlotte region recognized for her significant business accomplishments.
Kalooky is the marketing and business development leader for Elliott Davis, implementing strategic growth initiatives for the firm and its practices. Additionally, she is an avid professional developer, establishing and introducing coaching modules for the firm's young leaders aimed at fostering business development and client service skills.
During the past year, Kalooky oversaw Elliott Davis' latest branding campaign, which included the redesign of all firm collateral, including brochures, proposals, presentations, and the company website. These efforts were recently recognized at the twenty-third Annual Association of Accounting Martketing Summit at which Elliott Davis was presented with the Marketing Achievement Award for "Integrated Branding Programs under a $100,000 Budget."

With more than twenty years of marketing experience, Kalooky joined Elliott Davis in 2010. Prior to joining the firm, she managed marketing and business development for the real estate practice at global law firm K&L Gates.
She received her BS in business from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

named Srikant Sastry
as the firm's new Global Public Sector (GPS) managing principal, effective August 1. Grant Thornton's Global Public Sector (GPS) practice is a global management consulting business with the mission of providing responsive and innovative financial, performance management, and systems solutions to governments and international organizations. Sastry is assuming the role from Hank Steininger, who is retiring from the firm after eighteen years of distinguished service.

Currently, Sastry leads Grant Thornton's GPS Advisory Service Line and was recently appointed Chair of Grant Thornton International's Public Sector Strategy Group, which focuses on expanding the firm's global footprint in public sector markets.
Sastry has served the public sector for twenty-five years, during which he led activity-based cost management, budget, and performance improvement projects for several public sector entities.
Prior to Grant Thornton, he served in leadership roles for public sector cost and performance management practices at IBM Business Consulting Services and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
Sastry holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Massachusetts, a master's degree in public affairs from Indiana University, and a juris doctorate from the George Washington University Law School. He is a Certified Government Financial Manager.
The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC)
, the global organization for the accountancy profession with members and associates in 127 countries, is pleased to announce that Fayezul (Fayez) Choudhury
has been selected as the new CEO of IFAC. He succeeds current CEO Ian Ball, whose contract is set to expire in February 2013.
Choudhury was previously with the World Bank, where his last two assignments were as vice president of Corporate Finance and Risk Management and controller and vice president of Strategic Planning and Resource Management. In this latter role he was the World Bank's spokesperson on global accounting and auditing issues.
Choudhury has a master's degree in engineering science and economics from the University of Oxford. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.
IFAC President Goran Tidstrom said, "Fayez has more than thirty-six years of experience in the accountancy profession. He brings a strong understanding of the role of accounting in organizations and knowledge of the issues surrounding the global profession. He was instrumental in the discussions that led to the creation of the current private/public sector governance arrangements for international standard-setting and has extensive knowledge of IFAC through his work in the Public Interest Oversight Board (PIOB). We are very happy to welcome Fayez to this new role."
Choudhury stated, "I am honored to have been selected for this position. I firmly believe that accountancy is one of the core professions that anchor the functioning of modern societies and, as such, the role of IFAC is critically important."
Choudhury was recruited after an extensive global search led by an executive search firm.
Yant has joined the accounting firm in a manager position in the accounting and assurance services department. His previous experience includes working with another regional accounting firm servicing clients in a variety of industries, including wholesale distribution, manufacturing, and not-for-profit. Specifically, he has provided audit services in the areas of employee benefit plans and Sarbanes-Oxley/internal audit.
Yant is a graduate of Delta State University with bachelor's degrees in business administration and accounting.
LBMC also announced two promotions in its Chattanooga office effective June 1, 2012.
Elizabeth Terry, CPA, has been promoted to a senior in audit. She was previously a staff member in the department. Terry is a graduate of Dalton State College and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a master's degree in accountancy in May of 2012.
Maegan D. Manning, CPA, has been promoted to a senior in tax. She was previously a staff in the division. Manning began her career with LBMC as an intern in 2010, preparing individual tax returns, small business returns, and personal property tax returns. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
In addition, LBMC announced the following promotions for the firm's year beginning June 1, 2012 - all are located in the Knoxville office.
Mitch Janocha has been promoted to a senior in tax. He was previously a staff in the department. Currently, his area of concentration is in tax provision work.
Daniel S. Kittrell, CPA, has been promoted to a senior in tax. Kittrell was previously a staff in the department. He has prepared tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations as well as nonprofit and benefit plans.
Whitney D. McGowan, CPA, has been promoted to a manger in tax. She was previously a senior in the department. McGowan has experience working with a variety of industries and a concentration in partnership taxation and real estate partnerships. She works with both individuals and businesses on tax planning and compliance.
