According to documents filed at the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office on February 13, 2012, Lindsay Lohan never paid her federal income taxes for 2010, totaling $140,203.30. The IRS made its assessment of Lohan’s latest failure to pay on September 19, 2011.
This is in addition to the $93,701.57 she still owes for 2009.
"Lohan's business manager is working out an acceptable arrangement with the IRS and hopes to have the matter solved shortly," Lohan’s representative Steve Honig said.
But, while her tax delinquencies are looming over her, it appears her other legal issues are being resolved.
ABC News reported that at a court hearing March 29, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner took Lohan off probation from her 2007 DUI case. Lohan’s probation status also was changed from her 2011 shoplifting case from “formal” to “informal,” meaning that Lohan will no longer have to meet with a probation officer or appear in court, as long as she obeys all laws through May 2014.
Lohan now owes income tax totaling $233,904.87 – $93,701.57 for 2009 and $140,203.30 for 2010.
Judge Sautner told Lohan, “The only terms left are to obey all laws. I know it’s hard when people are following you all over the place, but that’s the life you chose. “You need to live your life in a more mature way, stop the nightclubbing and focus on your work.
Here’s a synopsis of Lohan’s legal troubles since 2007:
May 2007: Lohan was arrested for a DUI, putting her film career on hold. Police found cocaine in her vehicle. She entered Promises Treatment Center rehab facility, completing a forty-five-day stay. After leaving the center, she was fitted with an ankle bracelet to monitor her sobriety.
July 2007: Lohan was arrested for a second DUI and returned to rehab. Once again, police found cocaine on her person.
August 2007: Lohan returned to rehab for the third time in a year and stayed for two months. Later that month, she plead guilty to misdemeanor use of cocaine and driving under the influence. Lohan was sentenced to one day in prison, ten days of community service, and three years of probation.
November 2007: Lohan spent only eighty-four minutes in jail for the August sentence of twenty-four-hours.
Year 2009: Throughout the year, Lohan failed to attend court-ordered substance abuse treatment classes, which resulted in the court extending her probation for another year.
May 2010: Lohan didn’t show up for a DUI hearing. On May 20, she was ordered to wear an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet, undergo random drug tests, and attend weekly alcohol education classes.
June 2010: Lohan appeared on Bravo’s reality show Double Exposure, arriving on set hours late and seemingly under the influence of drugs.
July 2010: Lohan’s judge determined that she had violated her probation, and she was sentenced to ninety days in jail followed by a three-month rehab program. Lohan was released from jail after serving only fourteen days of her sentence. She immediately went to rehab and was released after staying only twenty-three days.
September 2010: Lohan failed a drug test and entered the Betty Ford Center where she stayed for a court-ordered three-month rehab stay.
February 2011: Lohan was charged with stealing a necklace and served thirty-five days under house arrest in summer 2011.
Summer 2011: While under house arrest, Lohan failed a random drug test. It was determined that the failed drug test wouldn’t cause Lohan to receive any additional punishment.
October 2011: Lohan’s judge revoked her probation, and she was ordered to complete community service at the Los Angeles morgue before her next hearing on November 2, 2011. On October 20, Lohan arrived late to the morgue for her 8:00 a.m. appointment and was turned away. Also in October, she posed nude for the January/February 2012 issue of Playboy and received a payday of close to $1 million.
January 2012: The IRS filed a tax lien against Lohan for $93,701.57 because she never paid her income taxes for 2009.
February 2012: Documents were filed at the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office stating Lohan never paid her federal income taxes for 2010 totaling $140,203.30.
Will Lohan pay her back taxes? Can she stay out of trouble? We’ll see.
