Sidney Kess and S. Scott Voynich Receive AICPA Gold Medal Award
Sid Kess is the author/coauthor of hundreds of publications, courses, videos, and practice aids on income tax and financial and estate planning for the AICPA as well as CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business. He is Counsel to Kostelanetz & Fink, LLP in New York City. Kess is recognized as one of the nation's best-known continuing professional education lecturers. He has lectured to more than 725,000 practitioners on tax and financial and estate planning. In 2010, the AICPA established the Sidney Kess Award for Excellence in Continuing Education to recognize individual CPAs who have made significant and outstanding contributions in tax and financial planning and whose public service exemplifies the CPA profession's finest values and ethics. Kess also has received the AICPA's Special Recognition Award and the Distinguished Lecturer Award, was elected to the Estate Planning Hall of Fame by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils, and is the recipient of the New York State Society of CPAs Hall of Fame award.
Scott Voynich is the managing partner of Robinson, Grimes & Company in Columbus, Georgia. He served as the AICPA's chair from 2003-2004 and was president of the Georgia Society of CPAs from 1994-1995. He participated on a national level in lobbying efforts on behalf of the profession and was involved with the AICPA Federal Key Persons Program for several years. Voynich was on the AICPA State Regulation and Legislation Committee during the development of the Uniform Accountancy Act and served as chairman of the Special Committee on Mobility, which was devoted to developing solutions to the state legislative challenges of the cross-border practice of public accounting. In 2008, he was elected to the Board of Trustees of Northwestern Mutual, where he serves on the Executive Committee as Chair of the Audit Committee and the Audit Committee Financial Expert.
