Each year, DiversityInc publishes its Top 50 Companys for Diversity, assessing the diversity management in corporate America and globally. This year, all of the Big Four firms have a presence on the new annual listing.
A total of 535 companies participated in the survey, the results of which were used to determine the 2011 rankings. Participating firms detailed their firms' attention to four key areas:
- CEO commitment
- Human capital
- Corporate and organizational communications
- Supplier diversity
To participate, firms must have at least 1,000 U.S. employees and must complete a survey.
Accounting firms and accounting consultancies that are included on the Top 50 list are:
"Diversity of talent may be the most important asset for businesses today. In an increasingly connected world, where talent comes from today may not be where it comes from tomorrow," said PwC CEO, Bob Moritz in a published statement. "We believe that our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and flexibility will create significant value for our clients, our stakeholders, our firm and our people."
PwC also picked up Top 10 honors on DiversityInc's 2011 Top 10 Firms for Recruitment and Retention, DiversityInc ranks companies on their ability to recruit women, African Americans, Latinos, Asians, American Indians, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders, and people with disabilities, to retain these people once recruited, and to promote them through the ranks. Cross-cultural mentoring factors into the ranking decision. Ten national companies are named in this ranking. PwC picked up the top spot, with Ernst & Young close on its heels in the #2 spot.
