Peccarelli, Schlageter to lead new business units for Thomson Reuters tax and accounting business
Brian Peccarelli has been appointed president of a newly created business unit, Workflow & Service Solutions (W&SS), within the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters.
The W&SS business provides tax compliance, accounting, and practice management software solutions to corporate tax departments and accounting firms in markets around the world, with significant operations in Dallas, Ann Arbor, MI, London, Sydney, Australia, and Hyderabad, India.
Peccarelli joined Thomson Reuters in 1984 as a product accountant, and has since held roles as director of client development, vice president of the corporate services market, and general manager for RIA Compliance. In January, 2006, he was named president of the company's U.S. corporate software business and, since then, revenues for that unit have increased nearly three-fold. Peccarelli led the unit's shift from a U.S. provider of income and trust tax software, to a global leader in corporate tax automation.
"Brian's contributions have been instrumental in the growth of the Tax & Accounting business in the past few years," said Roy M. Martin, Jr., president & CEO of the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters. "The explosive growth of our corporate software unit has helped position Tax & Accounting as a global leader in providing tax automation solutions to practitioners around the world."
Peccarelli is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association, the Texas Society of CPAs and the AICPA. He received his law degree from Hamline University School of Law, an MBA from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor's degree from Carthage College. He will continue to be based in Dallas, TX.
The creation of the W&SS unit and the appointment of Peccarelli was created in tandem with the appointment of Mark Schlageter to head the newly-formed Business Compliance & Knowledge Solutions (BC&KS) division.
The BC&KS business unit provides tax and accounting research and guidance information, online media, CPA certification services, and GRC (governance, risk, and compliance) solutions to corporations, accounting firms, and law firms around the world.
Schlageter joined Thomson Reuters in 1997, and after stints in business development and operations, was named head of the company's RIA Compliance software unit in 2000. In 2001, he was tasked to lead Tax & Accounting's successful foray into online publishing, and was named general manager of the company's RIA Information unit, where he led the development and rapid growth of the company's flagship Checkpoint product line, now the industry's market leading online research product. In January, 2006 he was named president of the company's Research & Guidance business, where he has since led the successful integration of the company's PPC and RIA Information businesses to create the industry leader in the U.S. market.
"Mark's leadership of the Research & Guidance business in the past few years has transformed it into the U.S. market leader, and Checkpoint into the leading online research tool," Martin said. "In his new role, his responsibilities have been expanded to encompass the worldwide market, and I'm confident he will have the same success that he has demonstrated thus far."
Prior to joining Thomson Reuters, Schlageter was a litigator for Poulson, Odell, and Peterson. He is a member of the Colorado and District of Columbia Bars as well as the American and International Bar Associations. He received his law degree and an MBA from the University of Denver, and a Bachelor's degree from Cornell University. He will continue to be based in New York City.
