IRS agent fired for sending e-mail message about Barack Obama
The New York Post is reporting that Cruz Salas, an IRS agent who worked at the IRS office in Manhattan, has been accused of engaging in political activities at her office, a violation of the Hatch Act.
E-mail examiners at the IRS discovered that Salas sent an e-mail message to six people in which she referred to President Obama as a Muslim. The Office of the Special Counsel filed a complaint against Salas last March.
The Hatch Act specifically states that a federal employee may not "engage in political activity while in a government office."
Salas had been an employee of the IRS for 30 years.
