CPA Foundation offers accounting scholarships to Virginia college students
The VSCPA Educational Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting business and accounting education, rewarding academic excellence, and encouraging students to pursue promising careers. Scholarships are just one way the Foundation provides financial assistance for programs that benefit students, educators, the CPA profession, and, ultimately, economic growth in Virginia.
Each year, the Foundation awards more than $25,000 in undergraduate, minority undergraduate, and graduate scholarships. To qualify for an undergraduate scholarship, applicants must have completed a minimum of three hours of accounting coursework, be enrolled in three additional accounting credit hours, and have an accounting GPA of 3.0. Graduate scholarship applicants must be currently enrolled or have been accepted in a graduate accounting program at an accredited Virginia college or university. Other selection criteria for the awards include overall academic performance, entry essay, faculty recommendation(s), and community and/or extracurricular activities.
The Foundation also offers four $2,500 named scholarships, three of which are new this year. Joining the Goodman & Company Annual Scholarship are the H. Burton Bates Jr. Annual Scholarship, Thomas M. Berry Jr. Annual Scholarship, and Yount, Hyde & Barbour Annual Scholarship. Applicants must be enrolled at a Virginia college or university, must demonstrate academic excellence, and must be pursuing a career in accounting.
