AICPA CITP credential committee chair announced

James C. Bourke, CPA, CITP, WithumSmith+Brown (WS+B), Certified Public Accountants and Consultants, was recently selected and approved by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to serve as the chair of its Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) Credential Committee for the upcoming 2008-2009 year. Bourke has served as an active member on the committee for the past three years.

"I am looking forward to taking the Chair position," said Bourke. "I am very pleased." The AICPA is a national, professional organization for all Certified Public Accountants, serving more than 350,000 members. Bourke was one of the first CPAs in the nation to receive the CITP designation from the AICPA.

Bourke is a partner and director based in WS+B's Red Bank, NJ, office and is Director of Firm Technology. In that capacity, he has the responsibility for overseeing all technology issues and operations for the firm's thirteen offices and near 400 employees.

Bourke received his BS degree in accounting from Kean University, Union, NJ. In addition to the AICPA, he currently serves on the Executive Committee as Immediate Past President for the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA) and is also Past-Chairman of the NJSCPA Chapter Operations Committee.
