New student-focused web site provides info on becoming a CPA
Not just for Texas students, anyone interested in becoming a CPA can learn about what it takes to get the credential and the types of jobs available to CPAs. Job search strategies are provided, including tips for resume-writing, and there are links to a variety of CPA exam review providers.
Virtual popcorn is provided to accompany a mock drive-in movie about choosing accounting as a career. CPAs are presented as respectable non-dweebs: "Think Yoda, minus the swampy shack, with a cellphone and a laptop."
Students are encouraged to join TSCPA with member discounts on CPA exam review materials, access to TSCPA publications, information about scholarship availability through the Texas society, and, of course, the right to claim society membership on a resume.
The animated Destination CPA tour takes students through areas called High School Hills, College Canyon, and Candidate Cove, with the final destination being the CPA certification.
Special resources are provided for educators, including lesson plans, career videos, and the opportunity to request guest speakers from TSCPA.
