Desire to be Greener: Web site details energy incentives by state
The popular site provides a fast and efficient way to access comprehensive information about renewable energy and energy efficiency incentives and regulatory policies administered by federal and state agencies, utilities, and local organizations. The homepage features a map of the United States so you can click on your home state to find out about the financial incentives, rules, regulations, and policies that pertain to you.
"Approximately 200,000 people use the DSIRE site each month," said Rusty Haynes, a spokesperson with the North Carolina Solar Center at North Carolina State University.
Established in 1995, the DSIRE project includes about 1,850 incentives and is funded by the U.S Department of Energy and managed by the North Carolina Solar Center in cooperation with the Interstate Renewable Energy Council. There is also a library of renewable energy policy reports, papers, and presentations you can access, links to other online resources, and a glossary of terms describing the different incentives.
"The project serves as a public resource for consumers, businesses, policy makers, nonprofits, researchers, the financial industry, the media and others," Haynes said.
