Irvin F. Diamond receives AICPA PFP Distinguished Service Award
Diamond received the award at the Institute's 2009 Advanced Personal Financial Planning Conference in San Diego. The PFP Distinguished Service Award is given to an AICPA volunteer who significantly contributes to the advancement of personal financial planning as a practice discipline and exemplifies the CPA as financial planner.
"Irv exemplifies what it means to be a CPA financial planner," said James Metzler, AICPA vice president – small firm interests. "Through his many years of volunteer work for our financial planning committees as well as those of his home state of New Mexico, Irv has worked tirelessly to advance the CPA's profile in the financial-planning arena."
Diamond is a founding member of the National CPA Financial Literacy Commission, the leadership body for the CPA profession's financial literacy efforts: 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy , designed to help all Americans improve their financial understanding, and Feed the Pig , a PSA campaign targeted to 25 – 34 year-olds to encourage saving and spending wisely. Through membership in the Financial Literacy Speakers Bureau, he remains active with these efforts.
He served as vice president and member of the AICPA's Board of Directors and was a past president of the New Mexico Society of CPAs. His board and leadership positions include the Santa Fe Opera, the UNM Anderson Schools Foundation, and the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra.
Diamond has received numerous academic and professional awards, including the “Highest Distinction” for his grade on the AICPA Personal Financial Specialist examination. Worth magazine named him one of the top financial advisors in the U.S., Medical Economics magazine cited him as one of the best financial advisors for doctors, and Money magazine recognized him as one of the nation's best tax practitioners.
Diamond's personal financial planning expertise is frequently sought by national and local media, which has resulted in quotes in such media outlets including the Associated Press, InvestmentNews, and KUT-Radio, Austin, TX. Diamond has written and lectured extensively and is a former member of the editorial board of the Tax Advisor, a national publication.
Diamond is a senior principal of REDW Business and Financial Resources, LLC, based in Albuquerque. He earned a B.A. in History and English from John Carroll University, University Heights, Ohio, and a BBA – Accounting from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. He is a licensed CPA in California and New Mexico.
