Microsoft brings MAC Excel users up to speed
Microsoft has now revised its security bulletin MS07-036 to include a MAC fix as well.
The three vulnerabilities in Excel on the Mac as well as on other Excel editions detailed by MS07-036 were all graded "important" in Microsoft's four-level threat-scoring system, one level below the topmost "critical." For users of Microsoft Office 2000, the security update is graded critical.
According to Microsoft, the vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted Excel file. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights.
