10 Hottest (and not so hot) Jobs for the Future
Get out your dictionary, or better yet, ask anyone under the age of 25. The top ten jobs, according to Time Magazine, are:
- Tissue Engineers
- Gene Programmers
- Pharmers (yes, spelled with a "ph")
- Frankenfood Monitors
- Data Miners
- Hot-Line Handymen
- Virtual Reality Actors
- Turing Testers
- Knowledge Engineers
No clue as to what any of these job titles mean? Well, get in line. And get caught up, because these areas are where the next gold rush will take place. (OK, we'll help - definitions can be found in Time's article .) Surprisingly enough, accounting is not listed as one of the hot jobs! Must be an oversight . . .
On a positive note, however, CPAs and accounting professionals can rest assured that their profession was not considered dead in the water - it did not appear on the 'uncool' list of disappearing jobs, which include at the top of the list stockbrokers, insurance agents, auto dealers, and real estate agents.
