Two men have been arrested [1] in connection with the recent tax rebate scam [2] wherein taxpayers in several states were mailed official-looking documents that offered to compute the amount of the federal tax rebate for a fee.
The men, Russell Wayne Levine, 42, and Borden Barrows, 39, live in Boca Raton, FL, and are accused of perpetrating mail fraud through their operation of a company called the Revenue Resource Center.
If the men are found guilty, they could face charges of as much as five years in prison and $250,000 in fines.
As a bit of trivia, Bordon Barrows is the brother of Sydney Biddle Barrows, also known as the "Mayflower Madame," who operated a classy brothel in New York City during the 1980s.
