AICPA's SysTrust Offers IS Solutions

In the very near future, CPAs may be able to verify and test a computer system's reliability, based on four principles of availability, security, integrity and maintainability. This offering is available through the AICPA’s SysTrust [1], jointly developed by the AICPA and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA).

SysTrust could possibly be a solution to protect information systems for the Critical Infrastructure Assurance Office of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Licensed CPAs will render opinions and issue reports following the AICPA Statements on Standards for Attestation Engagement.

The AICPA believes that SysTrust will help assure the reliability of the company's systems and, ultimately, will help a company minimize shareholder risk and make better decisions regarding the company’s information systems.

Alan Anderson, Senior Vice President of Technical Services at the AICPA spoke yesterday in Washington, D.C. at the first of six seminars in The Critical Infrastructure Assurance Conference Series. Other seminars are scheduled for Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco and New York.
