IRS Sets Six Forums for Tax Professionals
Retirement plans for small businesses, estate and trust planning, like-kind exchanges, alternative minimum tax, identity theft and changes to the tax law are some of the topics that will be covered at the forums. A workshop on Form 990, the information return required for tax-exempt organizations, is also featured at this year's forums, which are worth up to 21 CPE hours.
Tax professionals can also participate in the Practitioner Case Resolution Program to get answers to a tough tax case. If the case cannot be resolve on site, it will be assigned to an IRS expert for follow-up. In addition, attendees can register to become an authorized e-file provider, learn about e-payment options and meet members of the IRS Oversight Board.
The IRS is also seeking comments from tax professionals on how to improve service. IRS employees will randomly select participants to give their input during focus groups on various topics.
Sessions are conducted by IRS officials and professionals from the American Bar Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Enrolled Agents, the National Association of Tax Professionals, the National Society of Accountants and the National Society of Tax Professionals.

• New York City Aug. 9-11
• Las Vegas Aug. 23-25
• Chicago Aug. 30-Sept. 1
