First “Katrina” Tax Seminar for Accountants Scheduled
It is the first in a series of free CPE seminars providing up-to-the-minute information Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and Enrolled Agents (EAs) need to help their clients deal with the tax implications of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita as well as other natural disasters. The seminars will be presented live by CPEanywhere Virtual Classroom. Participants can join in from anywhere they have access to a telephone and an internet connection.
CPAs and EAs have an important role to play in ensuring taxpayers receive all the relief they are entitled to under the $6.1 billion Katrina Emergency Tax Relief Act of 2005 and other measure implemented recently by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Relief provisions are not limited to victims in the disaster areas. They extend to volunteers and donors nationwide.
Upcoming seminars in the series, which is sponsored by Leveraged Logic, will cover additional federal and state-specific tax issues related to the recent natural disasters. CPAS and EAs will earn 2 hours of CPE credit per seminar.
