Firstgov is Open for Business
The site enables users to search for documents presently available in the “.gov” and “.mil” Internet domains, as well as providing links to state government information. The Associated Press reports that users will be able to track Social Security benefits, apply for federal student loans, reserve campsites at national parks, just to name a few services.
Clinton had requested that the General Services Administration create and maintain the site earlier this year, and gave the agency 90 days to complete the task. Following through with its orders, the GSA has created a "simple and elegant" design that will enable users to find easy access to government documents.
