California CPA selected for San Diego City Council audit committee
McKnight is one of three professionals appointed to the committee, which, for the first time, includes public volunteers. The committee is made up of two elected councilmen and three independent members of the public.
With more than 30 years of experience in public accounting, McKnight serves public and private companies as well as not-for-profit organizations. He has extensive experience in the technical areas of audits for clients in such diverse industries as manufacturing, distribution, bio-technology, and gaming as well as experience with mergers and acquisitions and capital market transactions.
Before joining J.H. Cohn in 2007, McKnight was the Nevada managing partner at a Big Four firm. He leads the Audit Practice in J.H. Cohn's San Diego office and is a member of the Firm's Capital Markets and SEC Practice.
McKnight is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. Throughout his career, he has been active in serving civic and not-for-profit organizations including the Boys and Girls Club of America, the United Way, and Olive Crest.
Nominees for the public volunteer position on the City's Audit Committee had to demonstrate at least 10 years of experience as a certified public accountant or as a certified internal auditor, or 10 years of other professional financial or legal experience in audit management.
