New Ranking - Best Cities to Do Business, Advance a Career
The rankings measure salary growth, high tech output growth, and job growth. This year's ranking included a new category, job momentum, which tracked how cities dealt with the slowing economy.
After all criteria are measured, the top ten cities in the survey, followed by their rank from last year  are:
- San Diego, CA - 8
- Santa Rosa, CA - 6
- Las Vegas, NV - 14
- Ventura, CA - 18
- McAllen, TX - 25
- Boise, ID - 7
- San Luis Obispo, CA - 21
- Oakland, CA - 10
- Brownsville, TX - 59
- Orange County, CA - 12
Last year's first place city, San Jose, CA, fell to 61 in this year's ranking, due primarily to a decline in Internet business. San Francisco also experienced a steep fall, from third place last year to 54 this year.
