Grant Thornton has added to its list of acquired offices, clients, and personnel from former Big Five firm Andersen with the acquisition [1] of Andersen's Raleigh, N.C. office as well as additional partners and staff from Andersen's Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco offices.

Grant Thornton (GT) previously acquired Andersen offices in Albuquerque, NM; Charlotte and Greensboro, NC; Columbia, SC; Milwaukee, WE; Orlando, FL; and Tulsa, OK. In addition, the firm has taken on Andersen middle-market partners and professionals from Cleveland, Cincinnati, Houston, New York, San Francisco, Vienna, VA, and Tampa, FL.

Billing itself as the leading global accounting, tax, and business advisory firm dedicated to serving the needs of middle-market companies, GT boasts 650 offices in 109 countries. The firm has selectively acquired pieces of Andersen with a strong holding in middle market clients. "These offices and staff have served middle market clients extremely well and we are thrilled to welcome them to Grant Thornton, a name that means outstanding services to middle market companies," said GT's U.S. CEO, Ed Nusbaum.

Earlier this spring, GT acquired [2] Andersen's entire project finance team in Edinburgh and Glasgow Scotland. GT's Scottish managing partner indicated this acquisition would allow GT to grow its business throughout the UK and Europe from its base in Scotland.
