Enter Tom Peters. No matter what you think of him personally, this guy has some really cool ideas. I picked up his pocket booklet, The Work Matters at a recent Fast Company meeting. The booklet talks about making your work count and making your work matter.
Peters encourages workers to be involved – to evolve. He gives the reader tips on how to brand “Me, Inc.,” a way of thinking of yourself as your own “company.” I tend to resist marketing gimmicks and didn’t feel “had” as I read the booklet. I think Peters has tapped into what so many people feel in their organizations these days – they do want their work to matter.
If you are looking for new management ideas, take a look at this booklet. It’s guaranteed to make you think about your firm in a totally new way. Peters’ site includes a hip Interact portion where ideas flow freely, too! Call 1-800-587-8573 for a copy of the booklet (there may be a charge).
