CFOs: Golf Is Good For Your Career
Survey responses came from 1,400 CFOs from a stratified random sample of U.S. companies with more than 20 employees. When asked, "How important do you feel it is for business professionals to play golf in order to enhance their careers?" over one third indicated "very important" or "somewhat important."
Ten percent of CFOs indicated in a survey last year that they landed big business deals on the golf course.
"Career success depends largely on an individual's professional abilities, but networking and involvement in social activities -- like playing golf -- can help build stronger business relationships and provide a valuable forum for informal meetings with colleagues," said Paul McDonald, executive director of RHI Management Resources.
So next time there's a beautiful sunny day, grab your clubs, hit the links, and work hard to improve your . . .uh . . career!
