A Bed, A Breakfast, And a 1040
The overnight package includes preparation of the 2002 Federal and Connecticut tax returns, a night's accommodations and breakfast for two in the morning. Guests need to bring 2002 receipts and copy of their 2001 tax return. The package is only available for individual returns and an additional fee may apply due to the complexity of the return. The charge for the package is $149 and is tax deductible for their 2003 tax return.
Known nationally as "Mr. B & B", Innkeeper Kevin Marshall said, "I thought I could combine my fifteen-plus years as a financial services expert with my present duties. Our business at the Inn is to make sure every guest is relaxed and comfortable. This is definitely a great way to relieve any anxieties or headaches for our guests", commented Marshall.
Mr. Marshall started providing the 1040 package when a couple of clients suggested that his background in tax preparation would be the perfect amenity to attract clients to the B&B. While the offer is limited this year to Connecticut residents filing individual returns, Kevin Marshall said he is planning to expand the offer to residents across the country next year.
The Dutch Iris Inn is advertising its ”Getaway From Taxes” special package right alongside the private massage, sleigh ride for two, and a romantic dinner package.
And best of all – the cost of the stay is tax-deductible on next year's return because it is a tax preparation charge, Marshall said.
