Ratings of Two Top Internet Job Sites

According to a new report by Smart Business [1] magazine, the two largest sites on the Internet to post and find a job are Monster.com [2] and HotJobs.com [3]. In fact, the story states that if you can't find a job at either of these two sites, something is terribly wrong, somewhere.

But which one is best? According to the testers, the winner is HotJobs with four stars, vs. Monster with three stars. Why?

At Monster, the testers felt that they were forced to post a job right away after registering with the site. They also felt that the forced posting was a strategy by Monster to increase the number of jobs posted on the site for the sheer sake of upping the numbers. For users, it often took at least 10 minutes before an actual search for a job could be confirmed.

On the other hand, HotJobs made it more difficult for employers to register to list jobs because a sales rep must contact the employer to confirm. The user side, though, went more smoothly than Monster because e-mail notifications were more concise than the ones sent out by Monster.
