Program To Certify Bookkeepers Now Available

Bookkeepers who want to beef up their resume with certification can stop searching for the vehicle to do it. Sylvan Prometric [1], the global leader in computer-based testing, has teamed with The American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers [2] (AIPB) to offer the first test that offers certification for bookkeepers.

The test, dubbed the Certified Bookkeeper (CB) Examination, tests accounting, tax and payroll skills. This is the first time CPAs hiring bookkeepers will have a chance to score applicants by using the same testing application. The test was developed after The AIPB received thousands of requests for a test that could “measure the knowledge base of prospective bookkeepers.” The organization has been working on the CB Exam for the last five years.

Bookkeepers must pass the CB Exam, have two years of full-time experience (or the part-time equivalent), and agree to uphold the Certified Bookkeeper code of ethics to become a Certified Bookkeeper.
